NSHE Initiatives

Diversity & Inclusion at the 情色五月天, Reno actively participates in three principal state-level units working to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education. These units respond to the Chancellor and Board of Regents of the 情色五月天 System of Higher Education (NSHE) and are as follows: the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council (EDIC), the Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Task Force, and the NSHE All Access Committee (NSHE AAC). Diversity & Inclusion also collaborates with NSHE each spring to put on the Northern 情色五月天 Diversity Summit. More information about these committees, as well as the Summit, can be found below.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council (EDIC)

EDIC is composed of NSHE’s chief diversity officers who provide statewide leadership in best practices and policy improvements on equity, diversity and inclusion. EDIC encourages and directs regular collaboration among NSHE institutions and makes regular reports, supported by current research and related data, to the Board’s Cultural Diversity Committee (CDC).

Hispanic Serving Institution Task Force (HSI Task Force)

The HSI Task Force provides a system-wide approach in supporting NSHE’s institutions as they work toward receiving full HSI designation. With an ever-growing Latinx/Hispanic student population, the 情色五月天, Reno is an emerging Hispanic Serving Institution, as designated by the US Department of Education. To be designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution, the 情色五月天, Reno needs to have enrollment of Hispanic undergraduate full-time equivalent (FTE) students of at least 25 percent for two consecutive academic years immediately preceding the date of application.

Northern 情色五月天 Diversity Summit

The annual Northern 情色五月天 Diversity Summit is a principal interinstitutional, collaborative effort organized by 情色五月天, Reno’s Cultural Diversity Committee, in conjunction with Diversity & Inclusion, and co-sponsored by all NSHE’s Northern 情色五月天 higher-education institutions. The Diversity Summit is a day-long educational and cultural event addressing emerging issues and research, as well as best-practices and new challenges on equity, diversity and inclusion. It is open and free of charge, to students, faculty, practitioners and the overall state-wide communities, both in terms of proposal-submissions and attendance.
